Art Summer Camp in Glaslough: Three Days of Creative Fun for Kids This July

Two of County Monaghan's most talented artists are coming together to run a three-day art summer camp in Glaslough — and it sounds like exactly the kind of thing that turns a school holiday into something a child remembers for years.
Artists Trish Redmond and Lynsey McKernan are hosting the camp at Oaklands Community Centre in Glaslough from Monday 28th to Wednesday 30th July, running each morning from 10am to 1pm. It's open to children aged 5 to 12, costs €90 per child with all materials provided, and places can be secured with a €30 deposit via Revolut.
What's the Camp About?
Over three mornings, children will be guided through a programme of art, crafts, and creative exploration — working with a range of techniques and mediums under the hands-on guidance of two practising artists who know how to make learning feel like play.
The focus is on imaginative activity — giving children the space and the tools to experiment, express themselves, and discover what they're capable of creatively. Whether your child already loves art or has never really had the chance to explore it properly, this is the kind of environment where something clicks. Three hours a morning for three days, working with real artists in a real creative setting, is a very different experience from a school art class or a craft kit at the kitchen table.
All materials are provided, so there's nothing to source or prepare — just drop them in and let Trish and Lynsey do the rest.
Meet the Artists
Lynsey McKernan is a Monaghan-based Irish artist and arts facilitator, an NCAD graduate whose work as a plein air painter has taken her out into the wild Irish landscape to capture it in oil — fast, instinctive, and luminous. Her paintings have a quality of caught light and movement that comes from painting outdoors in real conditions, responding to what's actually there rather than working from photographs. As a facilitator as well as a practising artist, she brings genuine experience of getting people — including children — comfortable with putting brush to canvas. Trish Redmond is a Monaghan artist whose work and teaching bring the same warmth and craft to everything she does. She runs her own countryside studio offering painting sessions and creative drawing classes, and with this summer camp, she's putting her experience and passion for making directly into the hands of the next generation of Monaghan artists.
